About
My wife Kate and I live on a property south of Ballarat in Victoria, Australia. We have kept and ridden horses for over 50 years, and they continue to give us joy (and occasional grief) every day. We love Arabians, their spirit keeps us young.
I retired from a teaching position at the local university a few years ago now, and spend my time pottering around on the farm, working horses and dogs and making a few (to many) picture frames as a retirement interest.
I wrote and taught one of the first social media courses in Australia (remember MySpace?) at what was then the University of Ballarat. I am however a reluctant user of Facebook and other popular platforms. I don’t care when your birthday is, your marital status or what school you went to. The world wide web was meant to be open, not a walled garden. I am convinced that people had better digital literacy skills 10 years ago than they do today. It is frustrating trying to track down a business only to find they have a half baked Facebook page, and no web page at all.
Horsetalk is just a return to a personal blog page. It is for my own interest and anyone else who wants to visit. Basically it is a place for me to put content that interests me, and importantly it is also easy to search and retrieve topics.
Happy riding,
Cheers, Ian
